Archives & History
The Commission on Archives and History is authorized by the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church, 2000 (¶ 1703) “…to promote and care for the historical interests of the United Methodist Church…gather, preserve, hold title to library and archival materials, and…disseminate interpretive materials on the history of the United Methodist Church…It shall maintain archives and libraries in which shall be preserved historical records and materials of every kind relating to the [UMC]…[and] provide guidance for the proper creation, maintenance, and disposition of documentary record material at all levels of the United Methodist Church.”
The West Michigan Conference Commission on Archives and History meets four times a year and has archives at Albion College, housed in their Archives and Special Collections unit.
